We were delighted to spend International Women’s Day meeting our newest home-visiting volunteers.
Tuesday 8th March was the first session of our Volunteer Preparation Course, where we met our 4 new home-visiting volunteers. When we set the dates of this course, we didn’t realise the start date would coincide with International Women’s Day, yet in hindsight, what a perfect day to start the course – incredible women volunteering to spend time supporting and empowering families!
Our volunteer preparation course is an eight week course consisting of 16 sessions. It prepares our volunteers for supporting local families in their home and all our volunteers are trained before they are matched to a family to begin providing weekly support. The course covers areas such as safeguarding, confidentiality, communication, mental health difficulties, domestic abuse as well as setting our expectations of what our volunteers do.
Thank you for joining Home-Start Banbury, Bicester & Chipping Norton – we are pleased to have you!
